Still repping the Vegas Golden Knights while I drink Vinho Verde

Hi! I’m Natasha, the voice of From Vegas to Portugal . I started this blog when I moved to Portugal in 2022. I’m an American who packed up my life in Las Vegas—husband, dog (Bodhi), cat (Wednesday), and all—and moved across the ocean to sunny Portugal.

This blog is where I share my real-life experiences navigating expat life, travel adventures, cultural surprises, and the everyday joys (and struggles) of starting over in a new country.

Lived It, Learned It, Sharing It

I’m not just a traveler—I live here. Every blog post is rooted in my personal experience, whether it’s figuring out Portuguese bureaucracy, finding gluten-free food (I have celiac disease, so trust me, I’ve been there), or exploring the Algarve coast with sand in my shoes and a camera in hand.

I know how overwhelming it can be to move to a new country or plan a trip with dietary restrictions. That’s why I aim to share honest, helpful, and down-to-earth advice—no sugarcoating, no tourist fluff, just what actually works (and what doesn’t).

A Bit More About Me

I’ve always loved to write and travel, and I’m a slightly obsessive planner with ADHD and a deep love for good food, local wine, and slow mornings. I’m also working to grow this blog and my Instagram into something that not only documents this wild adventure but helps others who are dreaming of (or already diving into) life abroad.

Fun Facts About Me

  • I have celiac disease, so I’m always on the hunt for the best gluten-free eats—especially pastries.
  • I actually graduated from culinary school with a degree in Baking & Pastry Arts so finding out I had celiac not only sucked for food choices but also kind of changed my career choices.
  • My dog Bodhi is the true star of my Instagram stories.
  • I used to work in one of the big casinos in Las Vegas and lived the whole Vegas life, but these days, I’m all about slow living and meaningful travel.
  • I’m a sucker for street art, hidden bars and cafés, and the smell of salty air.

I hope you enjoy my blog and that it helps you with the process of moving, traveling gluten free or just gives you motivation to take a chance and go for dreams, I’m sure glad I did.
