Tavira’s Sol de Inverno Festival brings winter sunshine, cultural performances, local makers, and community vibes together in the heart of the Algarve. Whether you’re looking for art, music, makers, or a slow Sunday stroll, this festival highlights the best of Tavira in the cooler months. Here’s what you should know before you go.
The Sol de Inverno Festival (Winter Sun Festival) is a free, community-focused winter event held in Tavira, Algarve each January, February, and March. Taking place at Jardim do Sapal, the festival brings live music, street food, art markets, family activities, and local culture together under the winter sun.

What is Sol de Inverno Festival?
The festival has a little bit of everything—live music, poetry readings, The Artists and Fleas Market, street food, and a bunch of fun activities for kids like ziplining and trampolines, and other stuff. The market had everything from handmade jewelry and crafts, art, vintage clothing, beauty products, baked goods, and more. And they even have dog adoptions!

What to Expect
Whether you’re in the mood to soak up some sun and good vibes from local musicians, shop for unique handmade goods, or just indulge in some delicious bites, this festival has you covered. They’ve also incorporated eco-friendly and pet shelter initiatives which is always a plus.

The first festival had performances from Voyage Project and G.I.G.G.Y. There were so many people there to make an energetic start to the season which is great because the goal is to keep the town buzzing with life even during the quieter winter months. It was such a fun day with friends, enjoying the sun and great music.
The festival has definitely grown since last year and I’m sure it will continue to do so with each event. I’ll definitely be at the next 2 this year.
Tips for Enjoying the Festival
Bring a blanket to set up a space in the grass to enjoy the music and atmosphere.
You can pack a picnic too. Since there are only a couple of food trucks set up, lines can be long, and options for dietary restrictions can be limited.
Wear layers- It can be cold but when the sun comes out, it warms up a lot
