Halloween is not as popular in Portugal as it is in the U.S. or as some of the other places that celebrate it. But as more and more people move here it has begun to grow in popularity. It is still mostly the foreigners that go all out for it. I love Halloween! I love dressing up and the makeup and it’s always just another excuse to have a good time. Most of my friends here are also expats so we have been able to celebrate with them.

My friends Tracy and Geo had a big Halloween party on the weekend before.  It was a lot of fun. There were a lot of people and everyone came with great costumes. We had great food that another friend, Patrick, made. He’s a chef and has a catering and take away business here in Tavira and his food is always amazing. I dressed up as a Dia de los Muertos Catrina and Karl was a Grim Reaper. I wanted to dress up Bodhi as a skeleton but I couldn’t find him a costume.

On Halloween night, I dressed up Bodhi and I as Lilo and Stitch. There were a few Halloween parties in town but as I walked through town, no one was dressed up. I felt a little ridiculous 😂😂😂. We went to the Black Anchor, which is the Irish Bar. There was supposed to be a party but it wasn’t very lively so we had a couple drinks there and then headed to Ofelia, our favorite cocktail bar. They had a special Halloween drink menu. There were a few people dressed up and it was pretty busy but it was still pretty quiet compared to a Halloween party in Vegas. It was fun though because we were there with friends. And Bodhi had the best costume by far!
